Why Does most Physical Therapy Stop Where Performance Begins?
That's the question that started Maine Strength Co.
If you've ever been through a round of physical therapy -- done the exercises, followed the instructions, been cleared by your clinician -- and still felt like something was missing, you're not imagining it. The traditional PT model is designed to get you functional. Back to baseline. Out of pain and out of the clinic.
For a lot of people, that's enough.
But if you're reading this, it's probably not enough for you.
You're not looking to be fixed and sent home. You're looking to understand what's happening in your body, build a plan around your actual goals, and keep performing at the level you've worked for -- whether that's running your first ultramarathon, getting back on the soccer field, or simply staying strong and capable for the next thirty years.
That's what Maine Strength Co. is built for.
Performance PT and Coaching for Lifelong Athletes
Maine Strength Co. is a cash-based performance physical therapy practice and coaching gym in Yarmouth, Maine. We work with motivated, movement-driven people across southern Maine -- from Portland and Falmouth to Brunswick, Cape Elizabeth, and everywhere in between.
Our model is built on a belief that most PT clinics aren't designed around: physical therapy and performance training were never meant to be separate.
In a traditional PT setting, you get treated for the injury and discharged when you hit a functional baseline. In a performance PT setting, resolving the injury is the starting point -- not the finish line. We use the evaluation process to understand not just what's wrong, but what you're trying to do, what's standing between you and that goal, and how to build a progressive plan that gets you there and keeps you there.
Pain free is the starting line. Performance is the goal.
What Makes Maine Strength Co. Different
A few things set us apart from other PT options in southern Maine:
One-on-one care, every session. You work with the same physical therapist, every session. No splitting attention between multiple patients, no rotating through different clinicians, no generic protocol pulled off a shelf. Every session is built around you.
Clinical PT meets performance coaching. Helen is both a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a strength and conditioning coach with ten years of experience. That means your care doesn't stop at pain management -- it extends into how you move, how you train, and how you build the physical capacity to do what you love for as long as you want to do it.
The whole picture. Training load, nutrition, sleep, stress, recovery -- all of it factors into how your body performs and how it heals. We look at the full system, not just the body part that brought you in.
Cash-based care. No insurance, no visit limits, no standardized protocols dictated by a coverage plan. You get the care that's actually right for you, for as long as you actually need it.
Who This Is For
Maine Strength Co. is for the active person who knows there's more in them -- whether they're chasing a new goal, working through something that's been holding them back, or simply looking for a coach who will listen, think with them, and help them perform for life.
We work with endurance athletes, hybrid athletes, strength athletes, tactical athletes, recreational sport players, young athletes, and active adults at every stage of life who refuse to accept that their best days of movement are behind them.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to talk.
